This page showcases a collection of costumes I made during my BA (Hons) Costume Production course, as well as some costume designs and sewing projects.
The Tell-tale costume

These are the Final photos from my final major project for my BA (Hons) in Costume Production, a wandering storytelling in a troubadour style inspired by the works of Edgar Allen Poe, a collective of three works that were used to design this dress: The Raven, The Cask of Amontillado, and The Tell-Tale Heart.
Doublet
This doublet was created during my second year of university for the unit ‘Carnival of Curiosity’, in which I had to choose both an object and a place to inspire my design.
For the object, I chose the peacock clock, a marvel of 18th-century animatronic engineering.
For the place I chose, Italy, inspired by the opera Pagliacci, this is reflected in Venetian-style arches just above the waistline.
Who’s wild world?
Also, during my second year of university, we were approached by the theatre company Troubadour Theatre, which was putting on the production ‘Who’s Wild World?’
In a pair, we both designed and produced a frog costume suited for outdoor performance and easy to get on and off for quick changes.
Dartmoor Tales
This costume was produced as part of a Year 1 group project. We were given patterns, fabric and an illustration from a tale as explored in a work by a writer and artist.
My role contributed specifically to the production of the underdress shown here in black. This was fitted to the model and formed the underlying structure for the other elements.
Hats
A Beret inspired by an apple, produced in felt and lined.
A 1920s-inspired Cloche hat, formed around a hat block.
A beaded Tiara inspired by the Act One dress from a production of the opera La Traviata, worn by the character Violetta.
These hats were produced in Year 2 as part of an exploration of millinery techniques and production.
A novelty Fascinator inspired by
Mary Antoinette and the
Mochino Fall 2020 ready-to-wear
collection. It included elements that
I produced using a range of materials.
